Yoga for Veterans
May 28 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:30am on Thursday, repeating until Sep 24, 2020
Traditional Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India. The practice has been known to help relieve stress and tension and calm the body and mind, among other health benefits. Yoga can be especially beneficial for Veterans with PTSD.
According to Annie Okerlin, who spoke as part of Yoga Journal LIVE!’s “Life in Balance” series, “Yoga for Veterans can calm the nervous system, help therapists begin treatment, help with social re-integration. It reveals the body’s habits and brings you back to your body.”
Come join us as we explore poses for releasing and toning muscles while discussing the benefits of Asana (postures) and Pranayama (breath-work) in alleviating uncomfortable medical and mental health symptoms. No experience necessary, all poses are accessible with blankets, bolsters, chairs and other props.
